Warner rubbishes pressure talks ? Cricket News Update

Despite a series of patchy performances since his dazzling ton against India in Perth last summer, Australian opener David Warner has shrugged off the suggestions of being under pressure to get some runs on the board, saying it was only a matter of time before he plays an explosive innings again.

Warner, 26, smashed a stunning 180 against India at WACA, Perth earlier this year and has been struggling for form since then. He has not scored a century in the nine innings played since then, and has only one fifty to his name.

The opening batsman once again failed in the first Test against South Africa last week. He fell to Dale Steyn for just four in Australia?s only innings in the drawn affair at Brisbane, as the hosts slumped to 40 for 3, before his opening partner Ed Cowan (136) and skipper Michael Clarke (259) bailed out the Kangaroos with a 259-run stand for the fourth wicket.

Asked if he felt under pressure to score runs after an extended lean patch, the Western Australia opener said that he was not bothered about his personal achievements as long as the team was doing well.

?I don't think so at all,? said the 26-year-old left-handed batsman, when asked if he felt under pressure going into the second Test at Adelaide Oval next week.??As long as we are winning games and we are on the way to becoming number one... as long as we are winning games, that's all that counts.?

Australia are currently ranked No.2 on ICC?s Test rankings and need to win the series against the Proteas to topple them at the top.

?I'm feeling good, I'm nice and refreshed. I'm ready to go again. I've been sitting in the changing room for a long time watching the other guys score a lot of runs and I'm ready to get back out there myself,? added Warner, who has so far played 10 Tests since making his debut against New Zealand in December last year.

The belligerent top-order batsman also vowed to stick to his usual 'see ball-hit ball' style come the second Test at Adelaide

?I'll be hitting a lot of balls this week...Nothing changes for me, it's a simple game plan ... all guns blazing if I can,? Warner concluded.
