Texas A&M University finalized an outsourcing contract Wednesday with Compass Group USA to manage and operate dining, building maintenance, landscaping and custodial services.
?
The agreement with Compass Group is expected to generate $260 million in cost savings, revenue and infrastructure development for Texas A&M over a 10-year period.
?
?I am very pleased that we are delivering a comprehensive dining and facility services program that will provide a significant revenue source to the A&M System,? said Texas A&M System Chancellor John Sharp in a press release Wednesday. ?This partnership advances my goal to reallocate our scarce resources to recruit, pay and retain faculty and researchers throughout the A&M System. It is truly a win-win and we look forward to their partnership.?
?
Personnel transition from Texas A&M to Compass Group is in progress and includes transitioning employee files and information and enrolling the employees in the company's benefits programs, according to Jason Cook, A&M vice president of marketing and communications.
?
Cook said employees of Compass Group will receive a benefits package consistent with the state-funded benefits package they received now, as was promised in June when the outsourcing decision was made.
?
Employees of Compass will also continue to accrue vacation time as they did as Texas A&M employees, Cook said.
